On December 17, 2018, George Toriello sent me information upon researching the name Spyri.  None of this information is conclusive, but highly probable that the information is the same person.  According to a 1920 census, a John “Spayri” spelled slightly different, but an easy mistake for a newspaper to make, was living on 84 Main Street in Hackensack, New Jersey in 1920.

John Spayri was listed on the New York, Civil War Abstracts 1861-1900.  John Spayri is not listed on the Post 52 G.A.R. membership page, but living in town, I am sure would not have excluded him from participating in the photo, which we can see of some sort of celebration of Civil War Veterans at the time of the photo.
